First Announcement for the Summer 1999 Wasatch Topology Conference The mathematics departments of the University of Utah and Brigham Young University along with the National Science Foundation are sponsoring the Tenth Semiannual Wasatch Topology Conference to be held August 9-12, 1999 at the Treasure Mountain Inn Hotel in Park City, Utah. The conference website is: http://www.math.byu.edu/~conner/wtc.html The speakers are: Jeff Brock -- Stanford University, Boris Okun -- Vanderbilt University Jon McCammond -- Texas A&M Kevin Scannell -- St. Louis University Katsuya Eda -- Waseda University, Japan Each speaker will give 2 one-hour talks. Depending on interest, there may be some contributed talks. A list of times and titles is included at the end of this note. Park City is a beautiful resort city in the scenic Wasatch mountains. We have negotiated a deeply discounted room rate of $45.00 (studio) $55.00 (one bedroom) per night for the duration of the conference at the Treasure Mountain Inn Hotel. The nearest airport, Salt Lake International airport, is approximately 40 miles distant from the meeting site. Those interested in attending the conference should make reservations as far in advance as possible to guarantee availability of rooms at the discount rate. To get the conference rate, mention that you are from the math conference on Aug 9-12. If this doesn't work, mention BYU. If that still doesn't work ask to talk to Thea (the manager). The toll-free number for the Treasure Mountain Inn Hotel is 1-800-344-2460 and their address is 255 Main Street, Park City, Utah 84060. Their homepage is: http://www.parkcityus.com/~tmi/ We would also like to point out that Delta and Southwest Airlines usually offer very reasonably priced flights from the western US to Salt Lake ($150 round-trip fares are not uncommon).
